Pipe Forming Machine and Its Types
A hydrostatic pressure testing machine is a machine tool used to examine pipe joints for leaks and ensure that they are completely watertight. The machine has the ability to test pipe before installation, during the course of machine running, & immediately after draining & passing through the pipe. This inspection is done at regular intervals to ensure proper functioning of the pipeline.
The conventional welded round pipe form & flat pipe shape machines are run by using an electric motor. The hydrostatic pressure testing machine may be operated in one of two ways- Hydraulic or Centrifugal. In hydraulic method, the machine is placed on the side of both pipes at the same time. Hydraulic machine uses counter-clockwise & clockwise motion to feed the wire around both the pipes, while Centrifugal pressure tester uses high-pressure steam for welding. Centrifugal pipe forming machine is more suitable for large diameter circular pipe shapes.
For effective & reliable results, the pipe forming machine should be properly clamped. A clamping die is the part of the machine that holds the pipe firmly in place & forms the round hole. There are two types of clamping die-the full clamping die and the half clamping die. In the full clamping die, the coil clamp and a welding seat are located between the pipes. In the half clamping die, the welding seat and the coil clamp are located between the pipes.
Centrifugal pipe forming machines use water for welding and create round holes. Water is pumped into the center of the pipe roll through a water-injected nozzle. The tube is then pushed outward until the welding seal is obtained. In the case of hydraulic machine, a clamping die is used to hold the entire coil in place, while the machine continuously feeds the wire. In the case of electric welding square pipe roll forming machine, the welding process is carried out by passing the water through the welding chamber.
Pipe can also be formed using non- hydraulic process. Various techniques like laser torch cutting, sanding, boring etc are utilized to reduce the cost. However, these techniques are quite expensive when compared to the hydraulic ones. Moreover, many of these non- hydraulic processes are labor intensive as well as time consuming. Hence, they are not adopted in many industries including electrical appliances manufacturing.
